Ive used both styles. Open free flow airbox with shorter velocity stacks on road racing bikes where I am at high rpm most of the time and moving fast the whole time. Closed airbox and standard/standard tuned velocity stacks for every day and for an off-road adventure bike. #8. The 1290, in any flavor, is simply not a SERIOUS offroad bike. To me. I'm putting a PowerParts skid plate on mine and I will put some tires on it that are somewhat offroad worthy - Shinko 705 or Mitas E-07 - and that will be adequate for the offroad usage I would put any 1290 to. Woody's wheels sells rotor adapters making all 950/990 fronts fit directly on all 1050/1090/1190/1290 adventure models. In fact if you call woodys and order a front wheel, it's the same wheel for either bike model, just the new gen bike owners are supplied a wheel fitted with the adapters. Couldn't be easier. #10. LukasM , Jan 2, 2019. 1190 R vs 1090 R. Just want to check that I'm spotting the differences correctly! I believe the 1090 R has less power at 125 bhp, no centre stand so slightly lighter, no lean assist ABS which I think the 1190 R has. I think the 1090 R has improved front suspension and have gone to a PDS at the rear. The 1290 Adv R has a roughly a six gallon tank. So 250 miles or so range for the 1290 Adv R . The 790 Adv R has a 5.3 gallon thank my first tank was 55 mpg my next tank was 52 mpg . So your 250 plus mile range for the 790. I have read so,e people get 60 plus mpg for the 790. The stock 1190 has a lovely swell of torque that starts at about 4K, and it has a pretty quick (immediate) throttle connection. To my mind it's those things that make the 1190 such a pleasure to ride on the road. I'd hate to spend a big wad of cash to lose that or shove all the power up at the top end. #16. Done 10k on my 1290 SAS (2019) after putting 25k on an 1190 and 10k on a 1090 - no issues in 45k on 1X90's. With Honda now adding all the high tech to the AT the chances are it will be just as big a risk as a KTm / Ducati / BMW now anyway, its so often the complex electronics that cause issues these days, the mechanics are pretty good, Sep 12, 2009. Oddometer: 57. Location: Mazomanie. I'm wondering what type of tubless spoked wheels are available which have the spokes near the outside of the rim. Like what is used on the newer Triumph Tigers, Honda AT or Aprilia Tuareg. The closest I could find was Kineo, but they are most likely not for offroad use. .
